9:15 – 9:30 Continental breakfast 9:30 – 10:00 Welcome by Betty Sue Flowers with a 10:00 – 12:00 ACT I: In which the Actors learn about the vision of the Transparent Federal Budget Senator Bill Bradley (video) – Governmental transparency and the problems before us Jimmy Wales (video interview) – Community-based solutions Silona Bonewald – Overview of possible technology solutions Group discussion and Q&A [Coffee break 10:45 – 11:00] 12:00 Lunch in the Library with live music provided by The League of Technical Voters 1:00 – 5:30 ACT II: In which the Actors form a common understanding of the Users’ needs. Representatives from our key user groups – citizens, legislators, lobbyists, and others – will present their perspective on what functionality the TFB needs to provide. The presentations will be organized into eight “scenes,” structured to paint a holistic picture of users’ needs. Scene 1: (Chorus) Transparency and Effective Policymaking (Mark Strama taped) Scene 2: Transpartisanship Q&A Scene 3: Organizations as Actors Scene 4: Collaborative Authoring Q&A [Break 3:00 - 3:30] Scene 5: Validating Facts, Attributing Opinions, Identifying Sources Scene 6: Credit Where Credit is Due Q&A Scene 7: Opacity vs. Effective Research Scene 8: Opacity vs. Effective Advocacy Q&A 5:30 Van takes participants back to the Doubletree Guest Suites 7:00 Van leaves for Wild Basin Preserve 7:30 A Nod to Shakespeare -- Shakespearian-themed Dinner sponsored by The League of Technical Voters. Entrance is located on the east side of the Capital of Texas Highway (aka Loop 360), approximately 1 mile north of Bee Caves Road, or approximately 3 miles south of the Loop 360 bridge over Lake Austin (Colorado River).
